Education
We advise public and private educational institutions, including K-12 schools, school boards, colleges and universities, community colleges, and religiously affiliated institutions in Colorado, on Title IX matters and investigations involving student safety, sexual misconduct, and gender-based harassment. We work closely with school administrators and Title IX coordinators to provide clear, practical guidance in matters that are sensitive, high-stakes, and often time-critical.
Before entering private practice, ALM Law’s Founder served as a prosecutor in both the sex-crimes and investigations bureaus, and later led investigations into systemic civil-rights violations in foster-care systems across the country. She also practiced at a leading national law firm representing complex corporate and institutional clients. That combined background allows us to conduct fair, thorough, and trauma-informed Title IX investigations and to provide higher education legal services to K-12 schools and institutions of higher education in Colorado with both rigor and care.
This area of the law continues to evolve. We stay closely engaged with legal and regulatory developments affecting schools and colleges in Colorado to ensure our guidance reflects current expectations and best practices.
Title IX Services
We provide Title IX legal services to K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and other educational institutions in Colorado navigating evolving obligations related to sex-based discrimination. As Title IX attorneys, we advise administrators and Title IX coordinators on Title IX compliance, response obligations, and mandatory reporting obligations in matters involving sexual harassment complaints, gender-based harassment, campus sexual misconduct, and retaliation.
We also serve both as Title IX investigators and as Title IX advisors to parties. In our investigative role, we conduct impartial, trauma-informed Title IX investigations designed to meet regulatory expectations while remaining attentive to the experiences of all involved within Colorado educational settings.
Our work spans the full lifecycle of Title IX matters—from intake and initial assessment through investigation, resolution, and post-matter guidance—with an emphasis on careful process management, clear communication, and defensible outcomes for Colorado institutions.
Investigations Services
We conduct Title IX investigations and investigations into sexual misconduct, sexual and gender-based harassment, child abuse, and other forms of misconduct for educational institutions in Colorado, serving as outside and neutral investigators. Our work focuses on sensitive and complex investigations that require independence, careful judgment, and a high level of professionalism.
We approach each investigation with thoroughness, impartiality, and attention to trauma-informed practices, with a focus on process integrity, careful documentation, and clear communication throughout the investigation. Our role is to carry out investigations that are procedurally sound, respectful of the individuals involved, and aligned with applicable institutional policies and legal standards under Colorado and federal law.
Our investigative services include planning and scoping investigations, gathering and reviewing evidence, conducting witness interviews, making credibility assessments, and preparing clear, well-supported investigative reports. Throughout the process, we prioritize fairness, clarity, and professionalism to support informed decision-making by institutional leaders in Colorado.
